This play has been holding the glory of the “funniest comedy from behind” for more than two decades. The idea for it was born in 1970, when Frayn was standing in the wings watching a performance-farce. According to the playwright,” It was funnier from behind than in front and I thought that one day I must write a farce from behind”. In his plot for “Noises Off”, Frayn plays on the concept of a play within a play. This eccentric comedy allows the theatre goers to feel the atmosphere both in front and behind the stage. The play “Noises Off” is a popular contemporary comedy, its action takes place in the second half of the 20th century. It is about theatre, about those, who serve it devotedly and about all who love it attachedly.
