On the 29th of November 2010 in Saratov Academic Kiselev Youth Theater an opening night of the performance for the play «We’re doing fine here» by young Polish playwright Dorota Maslowska took place. Staged by Georg Genoux (Germany).

Production-designers – Olga Butova and Sofia Egorova.The play «We’re doing fine here» by young Polish playwright Dorota Maslowska was firstly presented by the director Georg Genoux on the stage Saratov Kiselev Youth Theater in the form of the reading-performance on the creative laboratory «The Forth Height. Children in the Adult’s World» that took place from the 9th to 13th of July, 2010.
Dorota Maslowska — is a Polish writer, playwright, she was born in 1983. She debuted with a novel «Snow White and Russian Red in the US» when she was 19, the novel became a bestseller in Poland, in 2009 Xawery Żuławski made a movie based on these film. In 2003 Maslowska was nominated on the «Nika» award, and a serious magazine «Politics» honored her as a «The person of the year in the field of literature». Her first play «A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians» Maslowska wrote for «TR Warszawa» theater. On the «Golden Mask» Festival the guest performance by Grzegorz Jarzyna on the play «We’re doing fine here» by Dorota Maslowska was named among the main events of the festival.
The name of Dorota Maslowska is a symbol of new processes in literature and theater in Poland that could be observed in the beginning of the XXI century. Her prose and drama is a wonderful reflection of the today’s reality.
Characters of the play «We’re doing fine here»: the little Girl whose life is resolved into finding the ways to skip school and watch TV, her parents and their friends who live without any particular reason just like wind-up dolls, the Director, the Actor and the TV Show Hostess as icons an of modern television and mass culture - all they «do not live and die with no reason». Their lives are build not on what they have achieved but on the things they have not done, and beside these “not” all the possibilities of bringing sense into their lives are left. At these background as a weird piece of the passed century the Grandmother stands who in the piercing monologues speaks about her youth during the War. Dorota Maslowska, one of the leading authors of modern Polish literature is brilliantly playing with the Mass media language, popular culture and advertisement and laughing at it in her play.
The play «We’re doing fine here» by young Polish playwright Dorota Maslowska in our theater is staged by the director Georg Genoux from Germany, already known to the Saratov audience by his work on the «Three Comrades» performance (the play by N. Skorokhod based Erich Maria Remarque’s novel). Georg Genoux is a theater director from Germany, Mark Zakharov's student; he played one of the leading parts in Pyotr Todorovsky movie "In constellation of taurus" (2003). Georg is one of the creators of Moscow Teather.DOC, since 2007 - an artistic director in the Joseph Beuys Theater, he has staged more than 20 performances in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Germany, his performances have taken place in 50 Russian and Foreign Festivals. Since 2007 he is a teacher in the Free International University, since 2009 – the head of the documental theater project in Theatre.DOC.
The performance «We’re doing fine here» is played on the Big Stage of the theater and the audience is sitting on the stage’s board inside the circle.
